Ready to query or send your submission? Here’s your checklist:
-Who are you? Tell us what makes you YOU.
-Publications & socials: if you want to share, or if you want support in these areas, include the info!
-Genre(s), themes, tropes
-Word count (if complete)
-Statement that the work is original and not generated by AI**
When calls for submissions are open, one or more of the following will be requested. These general guidelines may be amended for special projects or collections.
What works or authors/artists are comparable to the themes and vibe of your own? What are your inspirations? What are your hopes for your submission?
Social media account(s), follower counts, publication history, etc., aren't requirements for working with us. We want to work with good humans who appreciate human-made art and hard work.
Query Letter: Tell us about yourself, past publications, social media presence, and anything else you’d like us to know. Please include a paragraph telling us about the work for which you are seeking publication, making sure to include genre(s), word count, and completion status.
Synopsis: The outline, the play by play
Includes plot structure, characters, conflict, and climax. Does not include: dialogue, detailed descriptions. Under 500 words, please.
Manuscript Sample: Generally the three full chapters of a novel or book-length nonfiction; could be non-linear if that is more representative of the work. For poetry, 6-10 poems is ideal at this stage.
Old school document formatting in Word or PDF please! The only real requirement is making sure page numbers and the title/your name are in the header.
We do not require a perfectly edited manuscript free of typos or errors. We look for submissions with unique perspective and/or those brought by marginalized voices. We want stories that keep us scrolling and poetry that makes us pause.
If you have questions about our submission process or about a submission you plan on making, please email. We do our best to respond in a timely manner. During open submission periods, we thank you for your understanding as we work to provide thoughtful feedback and replies for everyone.
**We are collectively concerned [read: totally grossed out] with the growing use of AI-generated art and publications. We pledge that none of our content, from cover art to press releases are in any way made with Artificial Intelligence at any stage of production. As authors and artists ourselves, we support the community fully, and appreciate the artistic efforts of humans. We will not accept AI-generated content in any form. This will be reflected in our publication and service contracts and in our content selection process.
